Skimming through the pages Of a kind of fantasy Growing all too anxious Nobody can see me And in my own way I like it Now a power's growing Filling up the sea Chemicals and blood What is it we're creating? Black death Covering the nation Black death O United States It could never reach us here Could it?
2.
Who is standing on my lawn? Who is stepping on my grass? Did I say that you could be here? Did I tell you you could be here? I rent this land from someone else I pay her money once a month I earn my wages honestly Working almost every day We took this land from someone else A Native tribe, long ago It did not belong to them Something that they understood How much land does one man need? Measure him from head to toe Dig a hole down in the earth Bury him within the ground
3.
O Wicked Building Made of brick A Mighty Fortress is your prison And who could say What has occurred? What is this sickness that you have cured? And the neighbor kids Riding by Starting rumors about what's inside Oh, but it's worse It's so much worse Than you could imagine Innocent child Battered and bruised Shivering lonesome in the upper rooms And your older brother On that day I couldn't speak of it, no I could not say Terrible Fortress You stand so tall Your presence is known, now in every town And with trumpets bleating I am not alone The day is nearing now that you're overthrown No you may not Enslave our children Anymore

about

This album is largely condemning. It's about xenophobia, toxic patriotism and religious abuse. My friend and bandmate Nick Rennis is responsible for the whooshing and grinding guitar noises, but there are some other field recordings mixed in there as well.
